Esther Lafferty is the wearer of many hats and many beautiful shoes, though not all at the same time. Although her feet are in Oxfordshire more often than not, the Maltese island of Gozo has stolen her heart.
Esther specialises in marketing and PR, working with an artisan community of over 1000 artists and designer-makers across Oxfordshire and beyond, and a number of other organisations and companies in both the arts and other sectors.
She is Festival Director of Oxfordshire Artweeks and organises the UK’s biggest and longest-established Open Studios and Artist Trails event, during which as many as 500 venues open their doors to host pop-up exhibitions each May, and for Christmas in November and December. She is also a resident judge for the Global Art Agency at the Oxford International Art Fair and is regularly a judge on the panel for the Oxfordshire Craft Guild‘s Annual Award.
In her ‘wordsmith’ hat, she writes regular feature articles on the visual arts and Life in Oxfordshire for the Lifestyle magazine OX, general and family features for Pick Family magazine, and occasional art, travel and business profile features for the Oxford Times, Oxford Mail and Limited Edition magazine among others. She is also a reviewer for Theatreworld, a blogger for Experience Oxfordshire, the county’s official culture and tourism portal, and was previously an invited Amazon reviewer with a focus on children’s literature. She also writes occasional features for The Times of Malta.
Prior to this, with a Human Science degree under her belt, Esther was a Medical Publisher for Oxford University Press, working on and commissioning texts from undergraduate textbooks (including some of the prestigious Oxford Handbooks series) to academic journals .
The Significant Other would like to highlight that, although Esther is the writer of Something Gozitan, he is exceedingly significant.
